So Much Better than Max's Garden

So, awhile back Max showed you pictures of his garden and because I'm slow and haven't been good about taking pictures, it's taken me awhile and because we're so much farther north, longer for the garden to get going, but here it is. It's mostly controlled by Mrs. Ghost, but I have helped out on occassion and am enjoying the benefits.

We have "successfully" grown and eaten the following this spring / early summer: Lettuce and Spinach (multiple types and the above picture shows the incredible amount of lettuce we still have. We failed on sugar snap peas (5 total pea pods that each member of the family got one each.)

We have currently growing Tomotoes (4 types), Tomatillos, Pole Beans, Bush Beans, Cucumbers, Squash, Zuchini, Watermellon, Jalapeno Peppers, Banana Peppers, and a littany of herbs including basil, thyme, sage, rosemary, dill, marjorum, lemon grass, and I think a few more that I never remember.

It's not a true victory garden, but we're hopeful to reduce our need of many vegetables this summer and try out hand at pickeling, drying, sauces, herb infused cocktails (I'll share those recipes later.)

Hope you appreciate. . ... .. . . and eat dirt Max.

Deflating

So, as you may or many not have read my laid off entries, the is in some ways a continutation of this whole life experience.

Last night, I had the opportunity in the with the new job / in the new role to attend a very high priced cocktail reception where there was a pretty prominent speaker, in a swanky hotel, the whole deal.

Suit freshly pressed - Check
Shoes freshly shined - Check
New business cards in breast pocket - Check
Arrive about 30 minutes early - Check

Walk up to hotel lobby bar as I have a few minutes to kill . . . feeling confident about my new gig and know the facts and figures that seem important . . . get a nice seat at the end of the bar . . . . look the bartender square in the eye. . .. order my cocktail of choice, "Stoli-Tonic, Please". .. .. .

"Sir, May I see your ID?"

just a little deflating of a moment.

How?

How will you react when. . . . . . . .
1) Your son / daughter brings home their first boyfriend / girlfriend.
2) Your mentor is fired from their job.
3) The President of the United States holds a press conference explaining the history of contact with other beings and how long that we have known they exist.
4) A terrorist act kills someone you know.
5) The first person is teleported.
6) Someone other than an American walks on the moon.
7) There are no U.S. made cars or U.S. owned beer companies.
8) You have to put your parents in a home.
9) You are worth over a million dollars.
10) Your child is born.

Are you prepared? How will YOU react?

Two In a Row!

Just because I'm always the one being accused of not contributing as much to the blog as the other two miscreants, I would like to note that I've now posted two in a row. I'm sure they'll counter with "you should have had this level of commitment all along." I counter with something along the lines of "F*, You" and then we wrestle. Clearly as I am the only real super hero among us, I prevail and thus continues the cycle of life.

Speaking of coming from different points if life and different places, I would like to comment on where I put the three of us in the overall cycle of life:

Me: Just trying to make it thru the children infant years. I view it as the time between married(no kids) and what I think will be labeled the "t-ball time". The only real question that I have is whether or not to slow the career down during any of these periods.

Max is just preparing for fatherhood. As it approaches, the easy going life of bars, beers, and an understanding wife are slowly slipping away. Good luck with the transition. and welcome to the infant years. Always remember, you don't have a 12 year old.

AB is the hardest to pin down as he is quite a few years younger and thus on a different life track. Currently dating a wonderful Mrs. AB and at the end of the day if he just listened to all the sound advice of myself and Max could probably be the most successful out of the three, but instead chooses to follow his own path and thus lose the knowledge that flows so easily from us.

Not sure that anyone cares or will even read this. Had a fabulous weekend, and have a long weekend at the beach coming up, so don't expect the trifecta from old Spaced Ghost.
